The term Two-Spirit has a number of different meanings in different contexts. In general it is a contemporary phrase used by aboriginal folks coming from a variety of sexual orientations and gender expressions often considered queer in a US context.
Identifying as Two-Spirit is often chosen as a way to resist colonial definitions of Native cultural roles.
